Advancement in Circular and Sustainable Strategies for Fashion Design 06 April 2026
Presented by Dr. Sandhya Ravi, Nitte School of Fashion Technology & Interior Design, Nitte (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru campus, India
The advancement of circular and sustainable strategies in fashion design reflects a much-needed change in how we create and consume clothing. Instead of producing garments that are quickly discarded, designers are now focusing on making pieces that last longer, can be reused, or recycled. This shift is driven by growing awareness of environmental issues and the desire to reduce waste. Innovations in eco-friendly materials and smarter production methods are making this possible. Circular fashion is not just about design—it’s about responsibility, encouraging both creators and consumers to make thoughtful choices for a more sustainable and balanced future.

Composites for Functional Application 24 April 2026
Presented by Dr. G. Mohamed Zakriya, School of Fashion Technology KCG College of Technology, India
Natural fibre composites are versatile, sustainable materials that can be engineered to deliver thermal insulation, fire resistance, water repellency, and corrosion resistance. Through appropriate fibre selection, matrix choice, and advanced treatments, these composites are becoming viable alternatives to conventional synthetic materials across construction, automotive, marine, and packaging industries. Natural fibre composites (NFCs) are engineered materials made by combining plant-based fibres—such as jute, coir, sisal, banana, hemp, and flax—with a matrix (polymer or bio-resin). These materials are increasingly recognized as sustainable alternatives to synthetic fibre composites (like glass or carbon fibre) due to their environmental, economic, and functional advantages..
